Rik died 4/23/2002,on his new Harley motorcycle he had just received for his birthday, just prier to his accident. The accident was in BlueSprings, Mo., where Rik and family lived. We had just visited them a few months before his accident. The young girl that ran him off the road, made a bad judgement to turn, right in front of him. It was a very bad accident. We and a few classmates attend the funeral. He seem to know alot of people, and had alot of friends. In 2002, he owned the BlueSprings Fittness Center. Rik and his wife Kim, had two daughters. Rik's family met the world to him. He is very much missed. I'll try to get the pictures on line, that we took of all of us on vacation just before Rik's passing. We still go down an see Kim and the girls. Mark and Rose Sommerlot

Rik's Mom requested this be posted also..Our son Rik Carter and his wife Kimberly, had two daughters. They were happy and doing well at that point in their lives, being owners of their own health spa, "Blue Springs Fitness", in Blue Springs, Missouri for 10 years.
Rik started out that day Sept. 27, 2002 like all others , but was more excited this particular day, as late that afternoon his plans involved his first tattoo ever! An Eagle with a baseball in its talons and a streamer about its neck with the names of his daughters, Emily and Quinn.
Some things are just not meant to be, as on his way there, a 15 year old girl did not stop at a "Leeway Sign" coming onto htis big 4-lane blvd., as she was following her friends car in front of her, going to a party. This causing her to collide into Rik's motorcycle. He was wearing his safety helmet, but injurys being much to serious, he passed away late that same night. He is so missed, still.
Rik loved baseball, from Little League thru High School, College and many years in the Mens Senior & Federal Leagues in K.C. He was called "Big Daddy" and known for his pitching, a hard hitter, good teammate and very helpful in many areas to the Association. Even after five years of his death, Rik was inducted in Sept 2007 with two others, into the K.C. Mens Senior Baseball League and at a "Special Dinner Program", in K.C., his parents and sistes received a beautiful plaque in Riks honor, making his family very proud.
Can't beleive this will be the 30th year reunion for the class of 1979. How time flies! Rik enjoyed coming back for them, visiting and catching up with his friends. Have a great time and make it the bset one yet!
