James “Jim” McGregor IV, 53, of Iowa City, Iowa, formally of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, April 23, 2015, at his home.

Memorial services for Jim will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 28, 2015, at Mitchell Family Funeral Home, with Pastor Bobby Shomo officiating. James Rollin McGregor IV was born in Grinnell, Iowa, the son of James R. III and Mary (Rooff) McGregor. He was raised and educated in the Marshalltown School District, graduating from Marshalltown High School in1979. Following high school, Jim went on to attend the University of Iowa.

Jim was employed with the family business, McGregor’s Furniture, for many years but most recently was working at Menards in Iowa City. He was a member of St. Andrews Church in Iowa City. Jim’s passions included the Iowa Hawkeyes, golfing, Gull Lake in Minnesota, but most importantly, his nieces and nephews.

Left to cherish Jim’s memory are his parents: Jim and Mary McGregor; siblings: Lisa McGregor of Atlanta, GA; Chris (Doug) Case of Fayetteville, AR; Melissa(Rod) Jensen of Marshalltown, IA; Megan (Randy) Woodbeck of Ames, IA; Erin (John Payne) McGregor of Marshalltown, IA; and Sandy (Jeremy Schwenker)McGregor of Portland, OR; nieces and nephews: Kelsey, Lauren, Cameron, Regan, Ryan, Tyler, Colin, Zach, Gabe, Halle, Brecken and Bryson; and life partner, Stephanae Boch of Iowa City.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents.
